Testing Normality

Introduction

This module uses the Shapiro-Wilk test to determine if a population is normally distributed. While other tests for normality are available, the Shapiro-Wilk test is one of the most powerful and is therefore the only one presented in this module.

Data Upload Required

This tool requires a dataset for analysis. Please upload a dataset using the interface below, or upload one of the example datasets using the Input Data menu at left.

  • StatDataML - XML based data exchange format [*.sdml]
  • ESRI shape file - ESRI shape files can be uploaded [*.shp]
  • Text tab delimited - Data should be in uninterrupted rows and columns with fields separated by a tab and field or column names in the first row. [*.everything else]
  • Note: File size is limited to approximately 1 MB. Attempts to load larger files may result in an error.
